My name is Jonah Broos.

I’m from Ham Lake, Minnesota. I was a student-athlete at Blaine High School, earning varsity letters in Track and Field. After high school, I spent two years working as a personal trainer. As a trainer, one must sell oneself as a guide and positive force in another’s life. I developed a knack for speaking to people’s needs, while acknowledging their aspirations, however big or small they may have been. I learned a lot about communication, marketing, and what kind of professional I’d like to be.

Since coming to Arizona State University, I’ve developed my skillset in unconventional ways. I’ve been lucky to have played for Sun Devil Rugby, and this year I’ve had the honor of serving on the ASU Rugby Executive Board as the social chair.

In January of 2025, I started making videos for the other club sports teams, which turned into a small (very unofficial) business and social media presence that I called “Prod. JB.” My service aims to provide affordable videography services to local individuals and organizations hoping to showcase their talents on a limited budget. Eight months later, I’m happy to have worked with dozens of teams and athletes ranging from U9 to the MLB.

Throughout my time at ASU, I’ve worked primarily as a “bouncer,” or security professional, at local clubs and bars such as C.A.S.A. on Mill Avenue. Communication was surprisingly more important in this line of work than most, as miscommunication could lead to all types of undesirable outcomes on the job. It was up to my team to prevent that from happening.

2025-26, I’ve stepped away from security to focus my time on building my professional skill set, network, and portfolio. In the fall of 2025, I took a job as a social media manager and coach at Conquer Ninjas Chandler. I also worked with Sun Devil Athletics through the Cronkite PR Agency, creating owned media for TheSunDevils.com. I was tasked with creating 8 written pieces, 4 of which were to include multimedia elements. I finished the semester with 9 articles, 6 of which included video segments.

I was honored to have won a Gold Viddy for my work with Sun Devil Athletics, specifically for my pieces featuring the Volleyball, Hockey, and Swim teams.

This spring, I’ve been grateful for the opportunity to intern at Evolve PR & Marketing. I’m learning the ins and outs of the profession from the best publicists in Arizona, who have been nothing short of spectacular in taking me in and training me to the best of their abilities. I’ve been fortunate to write pitches, press releases, bylines, and blog posts, design invites, and build influencer lists for some of the most recognized businesses in the state.

As I prepare to graduate in May of 2026, I look forward to utilizing my experiences and making an impact wherever I begin my career as a publicist.
